Rip City
Richard Hamitlon has come into the Bulls starting lineup and produced. Something Keith Bogans wasn’t doing at that position last year. Rip has come in and averaged 12 points, 2.5 assist, and 3.5 rebounds in this early season. Now that doesn’t seem like a lot, but compared to Bogans production (4.4 ppg, 1.2 ast, 1 rebound) it’s almost triples the production at that position. Rip has played 4 games thus far, and has reached the 19 point mark this season.he looks revitalized after being overlooked in Detroit. Here’s the thing about Rip’s role in this offense, he is asked to do literally what he’s doing right now. When Derrick is not on the floor, Rip has still found ways to score and create his own shot. He also has helped bring Derrick’s assist numbers up. All around, Rip has been huge in just 4 short games. He’ll be tested more, but when Rip is on the floor with the starters teams have to account for all 5 players, because all are scorers.

Tom Thibodeau was stubborn when it came to Keith Bogans last year. He started an unreliable shooting guard for 82 of 82 games, granted he only averaged 17.8 minutes but he never really helped much when he was in the game. He was a solid defender, but still wasn’t even the best defensive shooting guard on the team. I never had a problem with Bogans as a player, but the way they managed him bothered me. Well, this season all of that worry is gone. We have a 30+ minute guy every night who can score the ball. Rip might have been undervalued in Detroit in the later days of his career in Detroit. But not in Chicago, he has to be good if the Bulls want to win anything this year.
